CORYS signs new freight rail customer in Brazil

Freight rail company MRS Logistica S.A. recently joined the CORYS customer community with a contract for a tabletop simulator and analysis package signed in February 2022.

MRS Logistica owns around 20% of Brazil’s national fleet, with 19,000 rail cars and 770 locomotives in service. It operates around 6% of the country’s rail network, but transports around a third of all goods produced in Brazil.

CORYS advanced simulator technology will help MRS Logistica optimize train composition, lower fuel consumption, and improve train handling for each subdivision, supporting greater operational efficiency. The solution will also help improve safety by allowing users to review events in real time and determine the causes and contributing factors so that corrective measures can be implemented.

MRS Logistica’s Guilherme Schmidt said

“As a major connector between manufacturing hubs, ports, and large cities, the 1,643-kilometer Southeastern Federal Railroad Network operated by MRS Logistica is strategic to Brazil’s economy. CORYS technology will add value to the company’s operations with advanced analysis capabilities designed to improve efficiency and safety.”

Greg Hayes, CORYS VP – Business Development said

“The analysis package included with the simulator will provide MRS Logistica with service analysis capabilities based on case studies of proposed train compositions deployed in new service areas, performance analysis to evaluate train handling operations from field data, and incident analysis leveraging reproductions of actual events.”
