Renovation of Queensland Rail City train simulator

Queensland Rail has awarded CORYS the contract to modernise their City train simulator.

This full scope motion simulator was developed and delivered by CORYS in 1999 and has been maintained in operational service through long term maintenance. The new contact will address the software and hardware obsolescence as well as upgrading the driver training technology and visual database to CORYS latest standards.

Lionel Cannet, CORYS Account Manager said

“CORYS is very pleased to continue our fruitful relationship with Queensland Rail. The new simulator cab will be composed of an aluminium beam-structured skeleton covered by honeycomb sandwich panels to reduce the weight on a new 6 degree of freedom low clearance motion system. This simulator will simulate a number of the Queensland Rail rolling stock and a new highly accurate visual database of the Brisbane City network.”

David Gatehouse, Project Manager at Queensland Rail added

” Queensland Rail awarded this contract to CORYS for the replacement of its existing Citytrain driver training simulator. The new simulator will incorporate the latest technology and enhanced computer generated imagery of the simulated environment. The use of training simulators allows Queensland Rail to more efficiently train drivers whilst minimising the impact on availability of trains for passenger service. The simulator is due to be commissioned late in 2016″

This contract confirms CORYS continued success in the Australian rail market having been awarded previous contracts with Queensland Rail, Aurizon, Public Transport Authority of Western Australia and Bombardier Transportation.
