CORYS secures QTMP simulator contract

CORYS has been awarded the contract to supply the two full cab replica simulators for the Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP) in Australia.

The QTMP involves the design and delivery of 65 new six-car passenger trains at a purpose-built train manufacturing facility in Torbanlea, on the Fraser Coast.

As part of the program a new rail facility will also be constructed at Ormeau, in the Gold Coast region.

The Queensland Government awarded Downer the contract to deliver QTMP in June 2023. Downer has entered into a joint venture (JV) with Hyundai Rotem (HRC) to deliver the 65 new trains. Downer and HRC will collaborate on the design of the new trains.

The CORYS contract, which was awarded by Hyundai Rotem Company (Korea), will enable driver training to be performed ahead of the delivery of the new electric multiple units (EMUs).

The QTMP was established to meet the increasing demand for rail transport in South East Queensland over the next 10 years. The QTMP will support South East Queensland’s population and economic growth, as well as Cross River Rail and the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

This contract reinforces CORYS as the leading Australian simulator supplier, having already supplied over 100 systems to passenger and heavy haul operators, with the QTMP simulators adding to the existing fleet of CORYS simulators already operated by Queensland Rail.
