Nexus’ new metro fleet driving simulator commissioned

Stadler Rail and CORYS recently commissioned a new metro fleet driving simulator sold to Tyne and Wear mass transit operator Nexus in Newcastle (UK).

The solution includes a full-cab replica simulator of the new Stadler vehicle, plus simulations of all Tyne and Wear routes and the associated signalling systems, for a total of 48 miles (77 km) of track including sidings and loops, the network’s 60 stations, and three depots.

Starting early next year, Nexus instructors will be able to take full advantage of their new simulator with the CORYS Tactis user-friendly instructor station solution, which lets instructors switch from workstation to touch tablet on the fly so that they can interact more closely with trainees, and CORYS Skills Manager, the new training planner and skills evaluation application.

‘The simulator is the first glance of the future fleet for our customer. This is a great achievement to have successfully delivered this high-quality driver training simulator.’
