End of 2022 BAPCO Team successfully tested CORYS Virtual Reality Solution for crude and vacuum distillation units at CORYS Grenoble office before deployment on site.
CORYS’s VR technology brings together INDISS PLUS® high fidelity dynamic process model with 3D plant topography model allowing both the outside operators and console operators to interact with each other as they would in real life.
3D model is displayed both on large screen and virtual reality headsets for immersive training.
“This project, i.e., the implementation of 3D virtual reality for 7CDU/7CVDU integrated with the Control Operator Training Simulator (OTS), is considered the first in the company. It is one of the applications included in BAPCO's Advanced Solution initiative. In fact, implementing virtual and augmented reality solutions is set to transform the way the workforce performs their tasks in the workplace. Therefore, the implementation shall assist in performing the most critical tasks by pushing human limits, which was not possible before. However, this is just the beginning. I believe that this endeavor has lots of potential. These would be identified and realized along with the continuous and efficient utilization of the system. One thing is certain: training effectiveness will improve significantly. “
