CBG Guinea training simulator project advancing rapidly

One of the world’s largest bauxite producers is now a major step closer to industry-leading freight driver training technology after a key project milestone was reached in June 2025.

Work with CBG (Compagnie des Bauxites de Guinée) is moving ahead at full speed. CBG is the largest bauxite producing company in Guinea, and one of the largest in the world. Under the contract, signed in late 2024, CORYS will deliver one full-cab replica simulator with a motion seat and two desk simulators, plus the line from the port of Kamsar to the Sangarédi mine in western Guinea. The new technology will be deployed for driver training and certification at CBG.

The entire network has already been produced, and progress is underway on images of the 134-km Kamsar-Sangarédi line, which will be fully-equipped with the Wabtec Interoperable Electronic Train Management System (I-ETMS). This safety-critical overlay system, used by six out of seven Class 1 railroads in the US, provides the means to enforce movement authorities, speed restrictions, work zones, and switch positioning to help reduce the potential for train accidents. CORYS has been developing, updating and testing I-ETMS releases in collaboration with Wabtec for over ten years, and is positioned to offer turnkey I-EMTS simulation on all major releases.

During a three-day visit in June 2025, representatives of CBG pre-validated the line and locomotive model in progress – a vote of confidence for the quality of the work completed by CORYS thus far. The trip also provided an opportunity for CBG to pre-validate several other key project parameters and to provide CORYS with additional technical information necessary for the project to keep moving forward efficiently.

During the pre-validation meetings, CBG expressed confidence in the project’s future, marking a major project milestone and significant progress towards CORYS’ delivery of driver training and certification simulators to CBG.

John Madden, CORYS Commercial Director said:

“CORYS looks forward to working with CBG and integrating our industry-leading freight driver training technology in their operational training.”
