With Competence Plus, CORYS is completely revamping its Cloud-based online training portal. Almost anything is possible: designing training programs and sessions, creating user accounts, launching simulators and scenarios, replay features, data analysis, e-learning… All on an exceptionally user-friendly platform.
CORYS launched its first Cloud portal in 2020 in response to the urgency of the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdowns.
“We wanted to enable our clients to resume their training sessions at a time when their top priority was maintaining production,” explains Tony Lighty, CORYS Business Developer in the United States.
From a Basic Portal to Expanded Functions
The first version covered the essentials: building sessions and connecting users. However, as clients became more engaged, they began to envision additional functionalities. They wanted to design complete training programs, create administrator and instructor roles, and integrate e-learning modules to assess participants before assigning them scenarios.
“Our clients also realized they could centralize their programs and documents, eliminating the need for dedicated PCs or training rooms,” adds Rachel Flavien, Sales Manager for Process Industries. “They also saw the potential for deploying the same training program worldwide.”
Ease of Use and Flexibility
The designers of Competence Plus drew heavily from client feedback to create the new portal, making it exceptionally simple and flexible.
“Not to mention cybersecurity management,” adds Ludovic Cariteau, Software Product Manager for INDISS PLUS. “We brought in top-tier specialists and ensured our solution’s security at every stage of development.”
No longer do users need to be simulator experts to launch one—everything can be done in just a few clicks. The platform is also user-friendly enough for employees to train individually, whether at work or from home.
“It’s not just about convenience,” Tony Lighty points out. “It ensures greater adoption of the tool, enhances employee skills, and encourages new ideas through increased usage.”
Regarding flexibility, clients can freely define user lists (administrators, instructors, trainees) without needing CORYS’s intervention. They log in directly using their corporate credentials and have full access to platform resources. For example, they can use self-created e-learning modules to build programs and training sessions, assign students to instructors, and more.
Training sessions can be structured for teams (same simulator and scenarios for all) or for classrooms (customized simulators and scenarios for each participant).
Expanding to Nuclear Training Soon
“With this tool, we can do almost everything,” says Rachel Flavien. “From initial training and refresher courses to introductory lessons and dedicated modules for assessing employees transitioning to new roles.”
Available now, Competence Plus has already attracted several clients using INDISS PLUS simulators. Soon, its scope will extend beyond process industries—light nuclear simulators, used for basic training, are being considered.
